Kuwait City: Kuwait SC clinched their 16th Kuwait Premier League title following a 4-1 victory against Al Salmiya on Monday.
Kuwait SC secured their fourth consecutive title with a match to spare as they have a four-point lead over Al Qadsia, who edged Kazma 1-0 on Monday.
The champions showed their intent from the first blow of the referee’s whistle as they took the lead after only 13 minutes through Fahad Hamoud.
Yousef Nasser doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 40th and added his second three minutes later for his 12th goal of the season – just one behind Al Salmiya’s Brazilian forward Patrick Fabiano at the top of the scoring charts.
Kuwait SC continued to dominate after the break as Iraq international striker Alaa Abbas headed home their fourth goal with Al Salmiya scoring a consolation through Hussain Al Musawi in the final minutes.
Veteran forward Bader Al Mutawa scored for Al Qadsia in their win over Kazma but it proved too little, too late as Kuwait SC reinforced their status as the dominant team in Kuwait.
