The entire Thai League 1 programme scheduled to be held in the month of March will now be conducted behind closed doors, no thanks to the coronavirus outbreak

The Thai football governing body made this decision following an urgent meeting on Sunday, the day that Covid-19 was declared a dangerous communicable disease

The decision is a measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, since football is a sport that brings thousands of people together, from supporters to players and staff, FAT spokesman Patis Supapong explained

Fans will not be allowed in for the month of March

Last week, Thai League matches went ahead as planned earlier with precautionary measures like the screening of football supporters prior to their entry to the stadiums and use of face masks

The matches will continue to be live broadcasted in order to reach the wider public.
